Peter Lea, Ph.D., the founder of SQI Diagnostics, invented and patented the core technology underpinning SQI Diagnostics multiplexing microarray technology targeted for autoimmune disease testing in reference laboratories. Peter lead the commercializing of the world's first microarray diagnostic platform incorporating automation, calibration and normalization in each test well plus multiplexing at the antigen and uniquely at the antibody subclass, a world first, something that SQI calls Ig_plex.

Peter has a unique blend of academic accomplishments and industry experience that have been instrumental to his scientific leadership of the SQI technology.

Professional History:

  • From 1970 to 1993, Peter held the positions of Director, Associate Laboratory Director, Investigator, and Research Associate Professor (Biophysics) at the Centres of Excellence: Canadian Genetic Diseases Network, Research Institute, Hospital for Sick Children, Faculty of Medicine, and University of Toronto.
  • LifeTECH Corporation.
  • From 1995 to 1996, as Director of Biophysics, Peter invented, patented and developed cardiac diagnostics at Spectral Diagnostics Inc.
  • From 1996 to 1998, as Director of Research and Development, he invented, patented and developed new blood processing technology.
  • Peter founded SQI Diagnostics in 1999.

Dr. Lea has been instrumental in managing the IP portfolio for SQI and has four patents issued and 15 patents pending to support the complexity and uniqueness of the SQI Diagnostics multiplexing microarray system.
