Kate SmithVice President, Technology
Kate has been with the SQI Diagnostics team since January 2005 providing leadership in all areas of product development. She has been integral to the development of SQI's technology from the initial prototypes to the fully integrated system. Kate's positions at various technology start-up companies have given her the breadth of experience required to manage and develop all aspects of the product's commercialization such as labeling and documentation, developing and implementing design control processes and compiling regulatory submissions. She looks forward to building an efficient product release pipeline that takes advantage of the technology's configurable foundation. Kate has held positions of responsibility and leadership from the start of her career encompassing over two decades working in various industries on products which use integrated software and hardware to solve a business need. Early years at Lucasfilm, Ltd. and then NeXT Computer, Inc. provided a foundation of system development with artistic balance. Ten years at Visible Genetics/Bayer grounded her in the unique needs of the medical device industry and the complexities of bringing an IVD device through the FDA regulatory process and commercial launch. Kate received her Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Brown University. To describe her as driven would be an understatement as she recently received her first dan black belt in Shotokan karate. Kate is excited about the commercial potential for the SQiD technology and continuing to lead the company's technology strategy and launch of SQI's technology. |
